The New Year Resolution That Will Improve Your Creativity

Here we are at the beginning of another new year and like many people, I’m excited to set my resolutions. What better time to step up our creative game as well? You’re with me? Good! And just as most fitness resolutions require feeding our bodies the good stuff, our creative resolution means feeding our minds the good stuff too.

So what is this good stuff I’m referring to? Why, it’s all around you. All you need to do is start observing and absorbing. Go ahead, just take a look. You’ll need to focus a little, you might not see much right away. But the more you look, the more you’ll find. The best part is, there is no limit to how much you can consume! Take in as much as you like. In fact, the more you take in, the hungrier you’ll be to take in more.

I’m done with playing-it-cool and been-there-done-that attitudes. These do nothing to feed creativity, in fact they starve creativity. And quite frankly, I’m just bored with cool people who know it all. This is the year I focus on suspending judgement, opening my eyes a bit wider, listening a little closer, and making a point of observing and absorbing everything around me.
